Search engine & AI Optimization (SEO & GEO)
The Search engine & AI Optimization setting controls how much information about your videos is included in their embed codes, making it easier for search engines and AI assistants to understand your content.
You can choose between three levels depending on how much video information you want to make available.
Configuring Search engine & AI Optimization
Navigate to Settings → Account → Embed code in the Quickchannel Console.
Under Search engine & AI Optimization, select one of the following options:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Minimal | Includes only the video player, without additional metadata. |
| Standard (default) | Includes basic video information such as title, description, thumbnail, upload date, duration, view count and allowed regions when geo-blocking is enabled. Live events also include their start and end times and live status. |
| Full | Includes everything in Standard, plus up to 100 chapters with titles, descriptions and timestamps, and the first 5,000 characters of the video's subtitles, including the language. |
How does this affect your videos?
The additional information helps search engines and AI assistants, such as Google, ChatGPT and Gemini, understand what your videos contain.
With Standard, they can identify basic information about the video.
With Full, they can also identify topics covered in chapters and access the beginning of the video's subtitles. This can improve the relevance of videos for specific searches and help users find particular sections of a video.
Including this information does not guarantee that a video will appear in search results or AI-generated answers.
Subtitles and transcripts
When Full is selected, the first 5,000 characters of eligible subtitles are included in the embed code.
- Only successfully processed, non-rejected subtitles in the video's original language are used.
- Transcriptions are preferred when available.
- Translated subtitles are not included.
- If no suitable subtitles are available, the subtitle text is omitted.
Updating older subtitles
Subtitles created before this functionality was introduced may need to be reprocessed before their text can be included.
To update them:
- Open the video and select Edit Subtitles.
- Click Save without making any changes.
This triggers the processing required to include the subtitle text.
If you have a large number of older videos, contact Support for assistance.
Important considerations
- Existing embeds: Metadata is included directly in the embed code. If you change the optimization setting, video title, description, chapters or subtitles, you need to copy the updated embed code and replace the existing one on your website.
- Default setting: Standard is selected by default and matches the metadata previously included in embed codes.
- Content visibility: Selecting Full makes additional video information available through the embed code. Choose Standard or Minimal if you do not want subtitle text included.
