Advanced Settings in Live Wizard

Advanced Settings

Some use cases require settings not often changed from the defaults. These settings have been collected under Advanced Settings. Below is an explanation of each option.

Owner

The owner of the live event is the person who will have control over the live event and later on its recording. User roles "Producer" and "User" can only see their own videos. Therefore, if a user with one of these user roles needs to access the upcoming live event, they must be set as the owner of that event. Additionally, if using the dedicated Iphone app, the app user will see their own live events and be automatically recommended to stream to an event they own when that event is active.

Moderation

Moderation is a flag which is used for different purposed. For example are only videos marked as approved shown in the video site. Moderation may also be affecting what is listed in the Optimizely plugin, dependent on configuration or other integrations with the Quickchannel end-to-end platform.

Featured

The "Featured" flag is mainly used to place videos in the carousel on the video site. It can also be used for custom integrations if you have built or are using one.

Autoplay

If enabled, the video will attempt to play automatically when the countdown timer has reached zero. Note that autoplayed videos are often muted by the browser by default.

Low latency

Low latency (LL-HLS) enables broadcasting with an end-to-end latency of about three to five seconds. Low latency is suitable for broadcasts with interactivity, such as polls and chat.

Time shift

When viewing an event which has Time shift (DVR) enabled, the viewer may pause playback or seek backwards up to 4 hours while the event is live. In case the event is longer than 4 hours, the period of the event before the last 4 hours won't be available to the Time shift function.

360° video

If you are to ingest a 360° stream, enable this option. The video uploaded or encoded have to follow the equirectangular format, this is the standard for 360° video.

Live captions

Enable to support receiving live caption during a live event. Either manual (for example from the supplier Svensk Skrivtolkning if you use their software to create live captions) or AI generated. The transcription language helps the AI to identify the language spoken in the live event, and is also the language which will be shown in the player subtitle menu.
For manual live transcription, a transcription provider will connect the transcription software to our caption server. The caption server address can be found in the Stream section of your live event.

Ingest location

Dependent on your selected sub providers and chosen live channel's type, ingest location may not be configurable. When configurable, the ingest location is where your RTMP stream will be transcoded into streaming formats. You want to place your ingest location as close as possible to where you'll be streaming from (where the camera is physically situated). For "Auto", the location will be based on where you set up your live event using the Live Wizard. If in doubt, please contact support@quickchannel.com or simple set this value to "Auto"
